Hi, I’m Liana (pronounced Lee-Ah-Na), a writer, editor, and content strategist based in sunny Los Angeles, CA.
I specialize in brand and marketing content for mission-driven organizations as well as entertainment, food, travel, tech, and lifestyle content for print and online publications.
My StoryWhen I was in elementary school, I was accepted into the Gifted program. I mention this not to brag, but to provide context for how I think and approach my work.
In Gifted, we were challenged to think both critically and creatively, balancing brain teasers and advanced math problems with multimedia art projects and creative writing. One of my favorite memories was when my teacher placed an inflatable bubble in our classroom. That bubble became an igloo in the Alaskan wilderness, the inside of an airplane, a dressing room for a movie starlet... Ironically, being in a literal bubble gave me the independence to build narratives, explore new perspectives, and bring my ideas to life. That nurtured curiosity is a pillar of how I write and problem-solve. It’s why I’m as comfortable researching and analyzing a topic as I am dreaming up a brand voice or shaping a narrative from scratch. Perhaps unsurprisingly, my career journey reflects that curiosity. I graduated from the University of Miami with a BSC/BA dual degree in Film and Theatre. One of the criticisms I received during my portfolio review was that I needed to be a “specialist” and not a “generalist.” The thing is, I knew choosing just one thing to do for the rest of my life wasn’t how I was wired. I’m built for variety and tackling challenges, whether that’s researching a topic I’ve never written about or learning a new trade. My backgrounds in creative writing, film, theatre, and photography are what make me a well-rounded storyteller. During my writing career, I’ve had articles published in Business Insider, The Everygirl, ScreenRant, BUST, Lifewire, Nerdist, Miami New Times, and many others. I’ve also had numerous content clients in industries such as education, wellness, beauty, travel, and photography. I’ve written all sorts of copy, but my main specializations are blog content, articles, website copy, and brand strategy. Working with B2C or nonprofit clients, I enjoy bringing ideas to life in ways that engage, inform, and inspire. Whether I’m writing marketing content, shaping an article, or developing a content strategy, I approach each project with that same curiosity, creativity, and analytical mind I developed in the Gifted program.
